Re: Are timing charts still relevant?

X-sheets still serve a purpose, when I pre-plan a scene with a strong rhythm. Timing charts are a bit obsolete: they're useful if work is divided between artists, since it's an established code. But when animating all by myself I don't use them, instead I indicate spacing directly in the drawings.

Re: A way to change the position of drawing?

The Panning Tool (default shortcut P) is your friend.

Select tool. Grab and drag drawing to desired position in one go. Undo. Select all frames. Redo.

If you need to adjust the position in more than one step, use the Transform Tool (Ctrl T) instead. Adjust, return, undo, select frames, redo, return.

Re: PC Crashed. TVPP file wiped clean?

Usually the Operating System is supposed to first write the new file version to disk, and only after that erase the old version (marking those blocks as free again) and change the pointers to that file's new location. This way there always should be at least one complete file version somewhere. But ...

You draw the outline first and then fill it with a different colour.

Official screen formats

Since there's often some confusion about the correct dimensions of screen and broadcast formats, here's a little primer:

Re: Questions about Photoshop backgrounds

You don't work with DPI here, you just calculate everything with the correct pixel dimensions. If your project size is 1920 x 1080px (HDTV), any image of that size will be good enough in terms of line quality. However, I found that adding some 100px or more around this allows me for better painting ...

Re: What would make the ultimate 2d animation software?

This is another in a long line of hypothetical questions with a much too broad scope recently, and sorry, but I'm fed up with it. There is no such thing as the one ideal software for everybody. Everyone has their own favorite way of doing things. IMO the best approach is to design a certain set of f...

Re: problem with rotating image

In the Import panel there's a text input field for rotation, which you should use. I don't know if this is in the scanner panel as well.

Alternatively, after import, you can use "modfy project" and rotate it permanently.

Re: Toon Boom Harmony vs Moho Pro

Certainly I would say that, but I haven't even worked with other software in that field. Biggest competitor would be ToonBoom, there's a long thread about it in comparison to Moho here: http://www.lostmarble.com/forum/viewtop ... =7&t=25763

There's also people who use CelAction for cutout style.

Re: Toon Boom Harmony vs Moho Pro

Kind of. It's used synonymously.

If you work with cutouts, in most cases you would use a bone rig as well.
If you use a bone rig, you can work with cutout parts or vector parts or a combination of both.

Re: Why is WDM video OUTPUT not supported?

I can't recommend that method. Video editing software pre-renders the output (in one layer only), that's why it's possible to send it through a dedicated video card to a calibrated output device. Animation software (not only TVP) only renders a display view (of all layers) and can only play back in ...

Re: Importing video footage issues

TVP exports .mov, .mp4 and .avi files on my Mac. If it plays in the native player of your operating system, it should import as well. If not, I have to convert it first.
