Re: Procreate Dreams

I agree completely with the above review. And seeing as how both Callipeg and RoughAnimator (which recently added shift and trace) have been developed with real workflows in mind, Dreams is even more disappointing. The fact that there are no selection or transform tools is shocking.

Re: Procreate Dreams

As much as I love working in TVP, these days I work on an iPad for rough animation, and go to Blender for cleanup/color/fx/compositing. I expect that Procreate Dreams will replace Callipeg/RoughAnimator in my workflow. It may sound nuts, but just having TILT SUPPORT for the Apple Pencil is a game-ch...

Procreate Dreams

The developers of Procreate have just introduced their animation app, called Procreate Dreams. wbem5qrH5ow Based on the demo video, it looks like it supports hand-drawn and keyframed actions, camera moves, and audio. It looks like the engine heavily uses the newer iPad GPUs to improve realtime playb...

Re: Recommendations for Cintiq alternatives ?

I have an iCarez brand matte screen protector for my (first-generation) 12.9" iPad Pro. I installed it first thing when I bought the iPad and it has held up very well and has a pleasant drawing surface texture. It hasn't worn down the stylus nibs as far as I can tell, I have only replaced my ni...

my new short: meditation

579458197 Hi friends. I recently completed a new film, part of a series I’m working on called magic science . It’s 2.5D animation using Blender, Callipeg and TVPaint. I’ve been working a lot over the years to figure out how to produce more animation as a solo artist without assistants. Blender is e...

Re: Callipeg - 2d animation app for iPad

I can testify to this app's excellence. It has surpassed Rough Animator in my regular use (and Rough Animator is really, really good!) Development on Callipeg is quite active, and this app now serves as the iPad phase of my TVPaint workflow. I can do my rough pass in Callipeg, export to TVP, and do ...

Another excellent feature by way of an add-on:

Enhanced Onion Skin functionality, including shift-and-trace. The development for Blender's hand-drawn pipeline continues to impress.

Re: Recommendations for Cintiq alternatives ?

I'm watching this thread with interest, since I also have a 10-year-old Cintiq 21UX and in all likelihood my next computer will be a Mac. I have largely moved into doing my rough work and tiedowns on the iPad in RoughAnimator (and more recently Callipeg), and exporting to TVP or Blender for ink/pai...

Re: 3d in Tvpaint?

I think Blender3D is really the tool for this. You can do quite a lot of 2D animation layout and drawing in it now. It’s free and the 2D animation tools are greatly expanded in version 2.8.

Do a trace sketch in Blender, render to a PNG sequence and then import that to TVP.

I assume you meant this as a joke but my Brother all-in-one does give me low-ink warnings, but the scan function is unaffected. It's silly that this would even be a question but it is!

This is a lovely reference to Bugs' 1930s-40s shorts, when he had yellow gloves.

You could take an xacto knife and cut out a slot for the side switches? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It’s probably one of those spongy pencil grips. In the US they’re available at office supply stores but I’m sure you could buy some online.

Re: Flip is slow copared to scrubbing

Maybe the pixel distance setting is too big? In the Flips window, try playing around with the pixel distance to find one small enough for your typical hand movements.
