Re: "Gigglebug" iPad app - made with TVPaint

This was very enjoyable to watch, Benjamin. I like that you are doing this series of behind-the-scenes of projects made with TVPaint. It's fascinating to see the work flow of different studios and individuals using TVPaint and I think it is very good promotion of the software. Good work.

Re: auto paint

I recently found out the auto paint in the plugin G'MIC for Krita/Gimp. Basically , it randomly colorizes any enclosed area and put the colors on a separate layer. This could be used along side with the color replacement tool already present in TVP. No more frame by frame coloring....one click done...

Re: Importing movie files into TvPaint

I've checked the frame rate for the movie and it's 32 fps but it still skips in Tvpaint. Why is it 32 fps ? That's an irregular frame rate . Almost everything is made at 24 fps or 30 fps or variations (12 fps = half of 24 fps , 15fps = half of 30fps , 60fps = 2x 30fps ) What venue do you expect to ...

Re: Importing movie files into TvPaint

Hi there, I'm still learning TvPaint, love it so far, it feels like Sketchbook pro with smooth animation mechanics, but I'm confused on importing outside work into TvPaint including a movie file. The movie file is my degree winning animation but it was made with Adobe After Effect s, I'm trying to ...

Re: Imitate LUMO / Roger system lights and shadows in TVPaint

For anyone interested in this topic (about automatically generating shadows and highlights) here is a technical paper posted on the Walt Disney Animation Studios website which covers some of the same material , also referencing Scott Johnston's 'Lumo' software , and the work of Daniel S'ykora who ma...

Re: Disney's Meander software

Thank you for your science David, it is much appreciated ! the other drawn characters in one of the song sequences were animated traditionally on paper I wish someday I could know how and for what TVPaint licenses owned by Disney are used. Each time I see 2D stuff in a Disney movie, I'm like : "eh ...

Re: Disney's Meander software

The drawn animation of the tattoo character "Mini-Maui" and the other drawn characters in one of the song sequences were animated traditionally on paper by Eric Goldberg, Mark Henn, and Randy Haycock . Then the pencil drawings were digitized and mapped to the CG Maui character (with subtle distortio...

Re: Imitate LUMO / Roger system lights and shadows in TVPaint

Thank you David for the information above ! I did not know Eric Goldberg had ever used TVPaint technology beofre. Now I will get a good excuse for talking to him when I see him in Annecy / CTN expo  Well, from the linked article if seems like for that green screen show segment Eric animate...
