Timeline Notes not transferring to Split Clips

Working with a friend on his animatic (he's new to TVPaint and I'm coaching him on using it) . His first version of the animatic had the entire film (3.5 minutes) all in one Clip , 5040 frames . He scrubbed through the soundtrack (a song) frame by frame and carefully marked off the major beats and m...

Re: SparkoCam software to use DSLR camera signal for video capture in TVPaint

Thank you for sharing this! It could be really helpful. :) I want to run more tests , but yes, I think it seems like from Sven's quick test of the trial version of SparkoCam that it has the potential to revive TVPaint's usefulness as a stop-motion application. At the moment video capture in TVPaint...

Re: Light color scheme problem - color options improvements needed

Some time ago Peter Wassink had uploaded a couple of dip files that could be dropped into the icons library of TVPaint to replace the default icons for Activate/Inactivate Layer and Activate/Inactivate Light Table . I'll try to find the link for you. Here's what mine looks like with Peter's icons -...

Re: Light color scheme problem - color options improvements needed

I usually prefer to work with a light color scheme. Unfortunately the new TVP design doesn't allow it, or at least I cannot find a simple way... In the screenshots you can see how light all the TVP default icons look like on bright background - barely visible, especially on a Cintiq... Same goes fo...

SparkoCam software to use DSLR camera signal for video capture in TVPaint

Has anyone tried this software to use their Nikon or Canon DSLR as a capture device in TVPaint (for shooting line tests or stop-motion animation) ? -- https://sparkosoft.com/sparkocam https://sparkosoft.com/how-to-use-dslr-as-webcam It's Windows-only, so I can't test it (I'm on Mac) , but I'm very c...

Alison Snowden & David Fine Talk ‘Animal Behaviour’

https://www.awn.com/animationworld/walk-wild-side-alison-snowden-david-fine-talk-animal-behaviour The 14-minute Animal Behaviour, created using TVPaint 2D animation software, was produced over a period of roughly two-and-a-half years. “It was exciting to learn how to use TVPaint,” Fine remarks at th...

Re: Default Timeline zoom ratio

TVPaint Developers - This feature request is over two years old now. Is it possible to implement what I requested in the posts above , regarding the default Timeline View ? Perhaps it would be in Preferences > Display > Timeline View (with choices of: Compacted or Fully Expanded upon opening project)

File size growing unusually large

I'm working remotely with a friend who is new to TVPaint. He is making a short film that is 3.5 minutes long . His storyboards are all in a single .tvpp file , but I showed him how to break it up into Clips (scenes) . There are 41 Clips . There is a music track (song) that runs the duration of the 3...

Re: Cintiq vs Huiion

I just want to let others know that I found a solution to my driver problem, which was that the new driver was incompatible with my old Cintiq, and the old one produced jittery lines. I am still with the same Cintiq, on Sierra, using the last driver compatible, which is 6.3.15-3, from 2015. I got a...

Re: Gray areas of paper drawings are showing

Peter, The project I was testing this stuff out on had scans that were already cleaned, so yes, I was wanting to know how to affect already clean drawings. But then I also wanted to see how the method that DT (and you) have described might work. I chose Multiple FX and then Histogram, but it didn't...

Re: Gray areas of paper drawings are showing

DT, I'm going into the Histogram and moving the little needles to adjust the white levels, but it doesn't appear to be affecting the image in any way. I'm clearly doing something wrong. That said, I thought that it might make sense to first show you a frame of my animation to see if this is indeed ...

Re: Gray areas of paper drawings are showing

I have a walk cycle that I did on paper and scanned into TVP. It's a high-con walk cycle of a pure black character on a white background. I used the Basic Scan Clean function to "clear" the drawings. The issue that I have is that the drawings are showing gray in relation to the pure white area of t...

Re: Key Framer and manual positioning of drawings

You can add keyframes one frame at a time to adjust the foot position to keep it planted in one spot as the character is slowing-in to a stop. But I think it's simpler than that ... animate your walk cycle of the character walking in place (treadmill walk) which will be repeated and panned across us...
