Re: Keep image marks while merging layers

I hope the next update (probably available summer next year  ) will fix this, in the meantime you can use my custom panel to do this.

Re: Improved movie preloading

Could you recommend any codec or setting which would be ideal to import it in TVPaint?

Re: Weight exercise

Probably it's just my personal opinion, but at some of the pretty fast movements I miss something for the eye to follow. You could try to add some smears at least in the few frames which have a lot of movement in them.

Re: 3d in Tvpaint?

If you searching for a way to combine 3D and 2D animation in one software package you should probably checkout Blenders Grease Pencil tools

Re: Importing Photoshop layers

Yea, the final format is usually 8bit (in DCP cases 12bit), but if I use subtle gradients I tend to use 16bit while working on it and put some slight grain or noise on top of the whole film before I convert it to 8bit. So there are some cases where 16bit makes sense, but they're pretty rare, that's ...

Re: Importing Photoshop layers

In some cases 16bit matters: Probably not for flat color, but if you got a pretty subtle gradient for example, you're getting banding pretty fast.

(pretty extreme example, but you get the idea, what I'm talking about)

Re: Disney's Meander software

The stills look impressing, but in motion it looks kinda uncanny to me.

Re: time line improment

Oh that's useful, thank you. But it would be nice if there was some subtile difference between the empty frames and the filled one all the time I think

Re: Disney's Meander software

Moana was done using Meander? If I remember correctly they planned to use Meander on Moana, but then opt out, since the whole Meander workflow was in a too early stage to rely on. At least for a feature film.

Re: Disney's Meander software

I'm not really frightened by the aspect of getting replaced, I always welcome new technology, if it offers new possibilities to do stuff in a new way. And Meander has A LOT of possibilities to create something you've never seen before. But to me it seems like they only use it to do some lifeless 2D ...

Re: Disney's Meander software

I read a bit about meander for the theory part of my diploma thesis and I'm really not a big fan of it. I really like the idea of trying new ways to render CG animation and I really liked the look of Feast, but especially Paperman looked awful to me. At least for me hand drawn animation it's not abo...
