I think the process neonnoodle is evocating is : copy previous (or next) instance to the Spare buffer (these functions could be buttonized in a custom panel), then, on the current instance, use a drawing tool in Merge mode. just to mention it, alternatively, to keep f.i. feet of your animated chara...

I also find time line a bit clumsy so I think the Sewie's suggestion of zoomed pixels could be my choice.
But maybe just because I don't have to animate characters like in Soom's drawing quite often

Sorry to say but doesn't work. Lazy brush still works with my old configuration but opens only from custom panel menu. Not from window-> plugin. When installing with new configuration I get Loading extension.. No place for serial number. Then lazy brush opens normally. When trying to paint it says L...
