This is really strange. The sub pixel option lets you have sub-pixel accuracy from your tablet. This means that line drawing is a lot smoother when using thin brushes while zoomed out. Could you post a screencap of your Render tab?

Press G while dragging the FX stack window (like when you're moving it around) to turn it into a custom brush. Then export your custom brush.
