Re: Recommended Video Editing Software
To me, if you need a free software you should use DaVinci Resolve from blackmagic right away : https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/fr/products/davinciresolve/ It's professional grade, and beside editing can comp and color edit too. I second that. I myself usually edit in Premiere, but a lot of studios...

Re: 10bit or more support in TVPaint? Anytime soon?
I don't see anybody doing serious compositing in tvpaint and even if being able to import then export 16 bit in tvpaint seems fair, I think from a pipeline point of view it's much better to just keep the assets separate and re-comp them afterward I completly agree. If you animate you want a fast re...

Re: 10bit or more support in TVPaint? Anytime soon?
Well, actually , there is one other reason I'm interested in coloring animation frames in Photoshop. It is because sometimes I've had students who wanted to enlist their friends to help them with things like doing simple click-and-fill coloring of frames (thousands of frames ! you know how it is .....

Re: Import Multilayer PSD
I don't think that's the reason. I opened the file from Xavier in Photoshop (Windows) and saved it under a new name and it still works as multilayer PSD in TVPain. Maybe a thing to notice: This file wasn't created in Photoshop, but in After Effects. Exported from there as PSD, than I deleted all fol...

How would you do that?hellofilms wrote: ↑14 Aug 2021, 07:43 I don't have TVpaint now to test but I remeber it was a difference if you imported the PSD as an image or if you just opended it as a file. Have you tested to open it as a file?

Re: Import Multilayer PSD
Yea, there are just plain layers. No groups, effects, guide layers or channels.

Thank you for testing David. Good to know it is possible, than I maybe need to try some things on my end to make it work.

Re: Separate "Import" and "Open"
Usually when I start TVPaint it creates an empty project with my last used resolution (let's say 6000x1000 pixels) when I then choose "Open/Import" and choose an image with a resolution of 1920x1080 it just get's imported into this empty 6000x1000 project instead of creating a new empty pr...

Re: Import Multilayer PSD
Well the PSD format belongs to Adobe, so they change its specification as they wish ... So far, a PSD that was exported by TVPaint would reopen with all its layers. If you use the "save as" menu in Photoshop, can you change the format options ? Unfortunately you don't get any options when...

Re: Separate "Import" and "Open"
Ah good to know! But sometimes I would love to create a new project from an image. Is this somehow possible?

Separate "Import" and "Open"
Sometimes I want to open an image or video file in TVPaint, so it creates a new project which fits the file I open and sometimes I just want to import a file into an existing project. Is there a reason these two commands share the same point in the menu? Could they be separated?
