Problem with FloodFill tool

Post by Vakis »

Hello everyone, i have a question about the floodfill tool,

When i fill my selections with colour, it leaves blank pixels near the line art.
I tried working with the range and smooth option on the control panel but it really messes up with my details. Is there something like the paint tool from Flipbook? That tool also paints the lighter opacity pixels near the lines like in a multiply mode or something like that.

I'm trying to work with complicated drawings and i've tried every setting on the floodfill, is there something i missed?

Cheers.

here's one, this has thick lines as to avoid the flood tool eating any of my lines much, but when i draw anime with very thin lines it ruins it totally.

the problem is that it doen't combine the painting with the pixels with alpha channels, dunno if i'm being clear.

Hi Vakis,

this is a common question and tvpaint has a nice solution
you were already close....
you should indeed choose 'expand selection'
but to prevent the fill from eating away the anti-alias you should set the paint mode to 'behind' (instead of the default 'color')
this gives a perfect result

still better....:
there is a new feature to keep line and color seperate throughout production,
color your drawing on a seperate layer
(set the source in the fillshape menu to display )
this makes it much more easy to later change a color without affecting your lines

The behind option was it. I did had my colouring on a different layer. It took me hours to color my frames and paint those left over pixels, now it just left very few pixels and u can't really see them. wow hours became seconds:D

Thanks a lot!
