Space for eraser

Post by nailbombin »

Hi all!

So in previous version of TVPaint, after checking on "drying" checkbox in brush setting I was able to use space (by holding it) to erase with the same brush I was drawing.
However in TVPaint 11 when I press space playback triggers.
Is there anyway to use holding space as an eraser in TVPaint 11?

Thanks!

Click and hold on Right Mouse Button will put the current tool into Erase mode. I set my lower Wacom pen button to Right-Click to easily activate Erase, then when I release it the tool goes back to drawing.

By default key shortcut F4 activates Erase mode (and F2 returns it to Color mode) .

By the way nailbombin, if you want to change the shortcuts (to make them how you were used to in the previous version for example), you can go in the Edit > Shortcuts... main menu (or hit Ctrl+K) :)

Thanks, D.T. Nethery!

This is almost what I was looking for :)

Thierry, the problem is that I cannot find the shortcut for this feature in TVPaint.
I was looking everywhere but there is nothing like "hold space erasing" in preferences(

The only thing I can find is in Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts , search for Erase .
Then you can assign Erase to Space bar .

However, as you have found, this doesn't quite work to do what you want , because when you press the Space bar to enable Erase mode the tool stays stuck in Erase mode , it doesn't automatically revert back to Color (drawing) mode after you release the Space bar ... you have to toggle it back to Color mode by pressing F2 .

In older TVPaint 10 , click and hold down the Space bar to activate Erase mode worked exactly like the click and hold Right Mouse Button does in current TVPaint 11 , because as soon as you release the Right-Click it returns the tool instantly to Color mode to continue drawing.

Assign your space bar to Tools:Right Mouse Button in the Keyboard Shortcuts.

That should have you erasing like you did in older versions.
