MakeTween Button (from menu) - TVPX

Post by Svengali »

In another thread Paul asked about a MakeTween button (see quote below). After trying a number of scripts based on Paul's feedback, we've arrived at a one button solution that seems to work very well.

Begin by selecting a segment of the layer where you want to create new tween frames. Click the MakeTween Button and from the menu select the interval you want... for example if your keyframes are separated by 16 exposures, you would choose 8 on the menu and a series of new, empty frames will be created, half way between the existing keyframes. Paul explains in detail:
Sven, would it be possible to make a script that would create empty frames, ready to be be filled with inbetweens, at certain, regular intervals? Here's how I work most of the time:
I draw my key poses every 16 frames, then my first tweens every 8 frames, then every 4 frames... so far not so tedious to manually pick these frames one at a time and open them as empty image frames -- but when it comes to placing an empty frame smack in the middle of the three instances between every fourth frame, the task becomes tedious. Could you create a script that would know how to open up an empty image frame in the middle of every three instance frames -- or even smack in the middle of every 16, or 8 frames? Raymond once made a script for me which opens every instance between two images. It would be really cool to have a little program that would automatize all this work
Standard TVPX file - install in the usual way.

Svengali, is it possible that this script doesn't work in tvpX? I tried and it didn't make tweens. If that is the case, what should I check in script to change it? Thanks

skomdra, how exactly do you proceed? Are you sure you highlight the entire length of the selection of frames between which you want to create your new empty frames?

The MakeTween Button was developed for TVPaint 9.5. (I just tested it in my old version of TVPaint 9.5 and it still works)

With TVPaint 10 there were changes to when and how Instance frames are created to replace exposure frames. If you are using TVPaint 10 then the old script is probably broken (specifically, the tv_ExposureBreak command). And I don't think there is a script-based workaround in 10, sorry.

(paul, are you still using the MakeTween Button in TVPaint 10?)

Here it is; modified for TVP-10. Just copy and paste the blue MakeTween icon if that is all you need.
