lock timeline view

Post by Peter Wassink »

there are quite a view ways to set the view in the layerpanel
i like to carefully set the scale and position of the timeline just how i want it (for instance using 'fit to selection')
but after doing that, when i scroll through the timelineand i reach the side, the view starts to move...
this can be disorientating, and often i would like tvpaint to respect the set view.

i would like the option to fixate/lock the timeline view.
or else to toggle the auto scrolling off/on

how to implement such a lock?
maybe incorporate it in the bottom sideways slider (1)of the layer panel?
though position (2) is probably easier and makes more sense i guess...

+1 . This would be very useful.

And related to this: I would like to request again that the default view of the Timeline scaling is always to open the project with the frames fully EXPANDED rather than COMPACTED.

In my experience working with dozens of students every semester who are new to TVPaint , the default compacted view of the Timeline causes a lot of confusion for many new users . They create their project, then they save it , but when they re-open their project they see all the frames "squished" (compacted) on the Timeline and they do not know how to expand the frames on the Timeline. (the magnifying glass button "Interactive Zoom Ratio" is not something that the new user intuitively knows how to use to expand or contract the Timeline. It is too easy to overlook. )

This view of the Timeline with the frames compacted causes confusion -
