Cartoon Saloon (Song of the sea, Breadwinner, wolfwalkers...)

Post by Sewie »

I just read this article. Congratulations to the TVP team!
It's news to me that the TVPaint software will be employed for the next handdrawn animated feature by Cartoon Saloon.

I found this interview with the director as well, in which he talks briefly out his upcoming projects:

Good to see TVP mentioned specifically in the Variety article.

"Employing French software TV Paint, which allows for 2D digital hand-drawn animation, Moore is also testing a pop-up book-style 3D stereoscopic effect, he said."

This is great news, and HUGE congratulations to the TVP team. Hervé, Fabrice, Elodie etc. About time you guys got that kind of attention. Looking forward to see an academy award nominated studio using the TVP software for a feature length animated movie. : )

Interesting to hear that Viborg based Nørlum Studios is set to produce about half of the animation coming out of Denmark, I know a whole bunch of people situated in that area. Who knows maybe I could get lucky, and get the opportunity to make a scene or two. I live in Denmark so it's a bit closer than going to Ireland. ; )

Kind regards,
Jesper

They must have a superhuman production manager, who's able to manage a workflow between so many different studios in different countries, and using different software in every shot. At least this shows that high-quality feature films can be done with software like TVP.
TVP 10.0.18 and 11.0 MacPro Quadcore 3GHz 16GB OS 10.6.8 Quicktime 7.6.6
TVP 11.0 and 11.7 MacPro 12core 3GHz 32GB OS 10.11 Quicktime 10.7.3
TVP 11.7 Mac Mini M2pro 32GB OS 13.5

That has yet to be proven, though... But hopefully they will.

Is this supposed to say "Irish" all over it? Maybe Disney was Irish -- I have to look that up...

This is the Production Management system they used on The Secret of Kells -

I would have said that "My Dog Tulip" and "The Apple & the Worm" had already shown that.

I'd say TVP is the nicest part of their workplace. Look how their desks are crammed into any tiny opening. The poor girl who has to sit directly under the boiler! I wonder how often she already hit her head against it. Also there's no good lighting available, just an overall light for all.
TVP 10.0.18 and 11.0 MacPro Quadcore 3GHz 16GB OS 10.6.8 Quicktime 7.6.6
TVP 11.0 and 11.7 MacPro 12core 3GHz 32GB OS 10.11 Quicktime 10.7.3
