I just looked at your link, Mads, and it proves my point. If you could hold an express button while drawing zooms with your pen already in hand, you could drop that stupid facial expression of wonderment while practicing common tasks.

:P :P with a keyboard at hand I see no use for pinch at zoom.
But lets turn back to the android tablet, and TVPaint on android. which is the topic of this post.
There is no keyboard with the tablet. so How shall we design the zoom and scroll function?
There is a button on the pen maybe holding down the button and hovering in the air over the tablet with no presure will enable Zoom when you move pen.
And holding down the button and pressing will enable scroll

If you are talking only about the project window then there already are several very handy buttons which I use all the time to zoom , pan and tilt. If you are talking about the entire GUI then perhaps the same type of buttons could be placed outside of the project window.

I talking about new innovative ways to navigate on a tablet.

But navigate TVP on a tablet I assume. So as I said, you will always be holding a pen when working with TVP so it makes sense to navigate with the pen (and a straight face).

I read in the Times that it's about pinch and zoom and also something about the bounce at the end of a hand controlled scroll; that the image bounces back to the top after reaching bottom.

Yes.
On Windows I think Alt+LMB for scroll and Alt+RMB for zoom is perfect. it doesnt get better than this.
I always work with my project maximized so I dont have access to the buttons you refer to.

So how can we get this Alt+LMB for scroll and Alt+RMB for zoom functionality on a device without a keyboard but with a pen.
I could by a Bluetooth keyboard and then I had an alt button. And then TVP needed to accept the button on the Galaxy note 10.1 as a RMB press. It doesnt do this yet.

or what about when pressing the button on the pen you could ask for a zoom menu like this.

You could use the eraser end of the pen
Sorry, couldn't contain myself. But what if the project window had as its default word in the Display window the word Navigate and upon touching that with your pen (or finger even) the navigation display you refer to would appear?

There is no eraser end on the pen for the android galaxy note 10.1 . you know that? is this the joke?

pressing an erea on the screen could be a soulution. On Autodesk sketchbook pro for android if you tab different corners you can have different effects. undo for instance.
Interesting to see what the TVPaint team thinks about good navigation on tablets, pinch and zoom is out,

Pinch is not totally out yet -- Samsung is taking it to an appeals court. I was joking about the eraser end because I had a discussion on another thread going, on that subject. That should take at least another year.

did TVP patent Alt+RMB=zoom ?
or can gestures be patented but other types of input contol not?
I can't get over how proposterous i think this whole case is.

I remember actually reading somewhere that standard wacom pens also work with the note 10.1, including their eraser sides. Although, I'm not 100% sure.

Will the ability to import images be available later on? I could not find the option for this in the current beta.

File->Open should do the job, the open beta is the full version, without limitation ( except the sound playback and the video acquisition ).
