My experience with giant dogs (I had a Great Dane and a German Shepherd who was nearly that big) is that they often don't require nearly as much space and exercise as our small terrier does. Samadi (our Dane) was a real couch potato. And Troy was far more relaxed and quiet than the smaller dogs we have had.
What a lovely beings they both were. Don't you find that when you love a dog, they stay with you forever?

She waited anxiously at my door everyday for last 14yrs, waiting for me to come home from work. I want to get another one for sure, just not ready yet. ~peace
