Adobe’s ‘Creative Cloud’ Goes Offline

Post by D.T. Nethery »

Adobe's 'Creative Cloud' Goes Offline --- and takes a million designers with it -

"The amount of productivity that has been lost across the world in the last day is mind-boggling… This is screwing anybody who uses Adobe InDesign to create interactive digital editions. It’s a nightmare in an industry that is runs on tight deadlines, whether they be internal or external."
I suppose when your software exists in the Cloud it can float away and dissipate like a vapor. Is Adobe now vaporware ? :|

It was bound to happen.
This is probably the main reasons I don't trust the "Cloud" services, and why I never put important stuff on things like my dropbox..

I'm very lucky that I bought into CS6 when I did. I just hope I have a few more good years of perpetual license before my versions become incompatible with the rest of the world. :(

It's no less than rent-seeking.

I don't trust the cloud services for the same reason, but having said that, I am a big fan of Carbonite, which has saved me a lot of pain on a number of occasions, not to mention has given me much peace of mind -- nevertheless I refuse to trust it, so I also make backups of every save I make on an external HD. I can't even start imagining how I would work in TVPaint if it were in a cloud, but if I could have both, ownership and cloud subscription, I would probably make the move.

Strange, I could use all my Adobe CC products just fine. Anyway, Adobe is pretty evil even without the cloud. :(

Cloud could be nice in addition of classical services, but not as full replacement.

Exactly.

Weird, they seem to rely on a single-system, without something like an emergency plan, which takes effect in such a scenario.
I'm like neonmoodie glad I'm owner of the CS6 Production Premium. Unfortunately it's just a matter of time… and I still have no idea which software could replace Photoshop and After Effects for me.

Probably not. Especially After Effects is really different from TVPaint even if both are timeline based and got some similar effects.

Well, it's going to be awhile before that will happen and who knows what heights TVP will have reached by then.

No no, Adobe did again !?
FirefoxScreenSnapz009.jpg
I already replaced Adobe software from Photoshop CS4 & PageMaker 7 to other products ; except Illustrator that required correctly vertical text rayout and export CMYK, eps, PDF/X-1a and PostScript.

But almost anime studio/school/University in my region be still dependent on Adobe CC products ; especially Photoshop and AfterEffects.
That trouble took a direct hit to mainly working hours (from 9:15 a.m. to 12:19 p.m. / resolved).

So what actually doesn't work when those things go down?
During those down periods nothing ever stopped working here. I could always boot my Adobe CC products without any trouble.
I can even use Photoshop/After Effects/Premiere without an internet connection. (Obviously I'm not storing my files on their cloud)

It's still less annoying than a dongle if you ask me.

Sir, there is a time difference of eight hours between Koninkrijk der Nederlanden and the Far East islands.
Adobe already fixed that trouble when Station Amsterdam Centraal woke up.

That is why your Adobe CC products works well.
