Intel Mac Boot Camp and Mirage

Postby shokunin76 » Wed Jul 09, 2008 11:50 am

Hello,

I have isnstalled mu Mirage on intel mac and it works fine , as only problem is the dongle wuld not work, so demo limitation is the problem, question is if I would install Xp on my Mac using boot camp feature - would my dongle work then, as i think is not the hardware issue but the software, any clues?

I would love to go for TvPaint, but at the moment just can not afford.

Mirage (TVP Animation 7) doesn't work on Mac Intel since no dongle drivers were available before 2006. This has been fixed with TVP Animation 8 and now TVP Animation 9 already works fine on this system.

We have never tested to use our softwares on Windows with Boot Camp so we are not promising you anything.

Patrice, since I have the upgrade of Mirage for which I paid when coming here but have now moved onto TVP9 and have no need for TVP8.5, can I simply give it to shokunin? Would that be done by me simply giving up my unlock code and you giving him his own?

Each unlock code is linked to a dongle. So you can not transfer it to another. When you buy a software the license is composed of:
- The software itself,
AND
- The Unlock code.
In the Eula of TVP Animation 8 (that you have accepted), the paragraph 3a explains that you can not give your license/software to another person.

Thanks Paul for your intrest, unfortunatly it sound s that Mirage is an orphaned product, and the sake of legal dispute didn't bring any good to it's users since they are abandoned unless they spent money upgrading.
I don't want to sound like a grumpy old man - but it is the marketing what governs today reality.

I don't want to sound like a salesman, but the new product is clearly worth the price of admission, once you are able to do it. Marketing has always governed reality -- where it hadn't, for instance in the former Eastern Block, the Socialist "reality" failed. There are just many different marketing strategies and all are up for grabs but not all are open to criticism. It takes money to develop a good product but then there is also Noblesse oblige...

thanks Paul always like to listen to you, anyway quite many times I almost went for the upgrade when the price was really attractive , but deeper thought said not this time - maybe socialist reality failed, and good - but unfortunately many of the bad points of it are now applied by it counter parts - what a irony is it not?

i stick to my Xp for now, ooops.. did't Bill say we would stop to support it by 2009 ? yup the progress ...i am such strange product of the breakdown era :D

So it works !! I installed a xp using boot camp on intel mac and it works perfectly! Now I have small partition with xp and any time I can boot into windows to use my Mirage, great - it is a shame , as it sounds a patch could solve the issue with the mac os. Anyway i am happy!

Please make sure what are you saying, in your comparison table where you have all version from mirage to tvpaint9 you clearly stated that mirage works on the boot camp , so you must have tested it somehow.

I really find it disturbing when not an honest answers are given when not needed. If I had checked it before asking the question I would not get this silly answer.

I think the note about Boot Camp on the TVP Version Comparison Chart is based on reports from certain Bauhaus Mirage users who reported having successfully used Mirage on Windows XP installed with BootCamp on Intel Mac.

So, while they (TVP Development Co. in France) may never have actually tested Mirage with Boot Camp it had been reported on the former Bauhaus forums that it worked with Boot Camp.

hm... yup but i am not the one providing support, so if one who can provide sales pitch so one is able to provide a clear answer .. mirage was abandoned by both parties, and it sound like the users are more interested then the providers, it took me about 40 minutes to set up my mirage with the xp on the boot camp, and copy of xp cost less then a upgrade or a new version, and as far I am concerned i am happy without the new features

A friend of mine is in a fix now: her PPC just broke (mainboard, no recovery poossible). So she wants to use her Mirage on an iMac (Intel) with Bootcamp.

My question is: will the Unlock Code of her Mac version work as well with the PC installation?
