tvp crashing

Postby dsheahan » Wed Apr 25, 2012 12:19 am

Hi -

I just installed the 10.0.6 update to try to fix this, to no avail: When I export a toolbar, tvpaint crashes every time. It happened with 10.0.4 too.

Here's my toolbar export method (simple, really): After renaming it something sensible, I right click and choose Export Toolbar. I have tried renaming it. This has no effect on the crashing.

Some perhaps relevant quirks I've noticed about the export dialog: It provides a default name with either .data or .ini as an extension, while just below it, the option is to Save As Type .bin, which I know from experience is the only type that will open when importing a toolbar. I don't know why it would pick an arbitrary (sometimes long and full of garbagey-looking numbers and letters) name or why .data as the file type, when .bin is what the program uses. But regardless of whether I keep this default name or name it something else, when I Save, tvp crashes.

Thanks for any help,
David

Hello,

Where do you find this option ? "Save As Type .bin" does not exist in the software.

No, .bin was the file format used in TVPaint Animation 8 and Mirage. Now, the common format is ".TVPX", as it contains much more information than a .bin.

I have just tested with a Mac 10.7.3 : no crashes, even if I rename the panel. I used "Export in TVPX" and "Export" : both work well.

What is your OS ? What is your Edition (Standard or Professional) ?

It does . If you RMB click a tool bar and choose This Panel>Export
You can still export your custom panel in the old bin format

Mads, I didn't say it was not possible to export in .bin.
I said the function's name "Save As Type .bin" does not exist. It is called "Export", simply (look at my previous post :

Elodie wrote: I used "Export in TVPX" and "Export" : both work well.
)

It is important to use the good terms and good functions' names when having a problem with the software, because misunderstanding can be quick.
That's what I meant by "Save As Type . bin" does not exist".
