Deleted Clip

Post by dguest »

Hello,

I'm a new user to TV Paint, I've been working with it for a year now so I stick with the simple stuff. Unfortunately, one of my clips recently went missing. I save them all as I go, both to my computer and my hard drive. The file exists on both, as I named it, and is listed as 5.1 mb so there's something there, but when I open it in TV Paint, there's nothing there. It opens like a brand new project. The same thing happens on both my computer and my hard drive. Any ideas? This clip took 6 hours, I really don't have time to redo it. Anyone who can help me out here, you'd be a lifesaver.

Have you looked under the 'Projects" tab? Perhaps it's there with an empty clips in front of it.

Maybe should we add a warning when the first clip of a loaded project is empty.
Indeed, this question comes often. :)

I think it has been discussed before, but when re-loading a W.I.P. project,
if we had a toggle-option (in the preference panel ?) to choose "open project / starting position (in the Timeline) :
- A) project's 1rst Frame /
- B) current Frame where we were when last quitting ;
imo, if B) is the default option, I think we will get less "why my clip disappeared ??? " from newbies .

If TVP could detect wether a clip contains pixels or not, and which clip, it could maybe open like now in clip 1, but display a note like "There's nothing in this clip. First clip with content is clip # 3."

(Which reminds me: what happens if a multi-clip file from TVP Pro is opened in TVP Standard?)
TVP 10.0.18 and 11.0 MacPro Quadcore 3GHz 16GB OS 10.6.8 Quicktime 7.6.6
TVP 11.0 and 11.7 MacPro 12core 3GHz 32GB OS 10.11 Quicktime 10.7.3
TVP 11.7 Mac Mini M2pro 32GB OS 13.5

It opens the file with all clips (yo ucan create several clips within TVPaint Standard : you just cannot read them as an animatic or enjoy camera feature)
