Re: Procreate Dreams
I tried using Dreams on a personal project, but it's terrible for animating with! So many basic functions for an animator are missing that I question who exactly they were getting feedback from? Because it certainly isn't anyone actively working in the industry now, it could only be from retired or ...

Re: Procreate Dreams
Seems impressive at first, but I hope they don't forget basics like shift & trace, reusing drawings on the timeline or a proper fill tool for animators otherwise it seems more like a social media tool to showcase yourself using it rather than for real work, we didn't really see much 'animator' f...

Re: Any plans for TVpaint 12? will it adopt AI technology?
There is no such thing as "AI tools", especially not for 2D animation. There have been attempts to automatic inbetweening (so far no success) and semi-automatic coloring (may work in certain settings). Other than that there's no tools available right now. Actually Japanese companies are d...

Re: Recommendations for Cintiq alternatives ?
How do you feel about working on the smaller iPad sceen compared to working on the larger Cintiq 21UX screen ? I tried and tried to get used to working with TVPaint on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet (10.1 inch screen) but could never get over the feeling of the interface being too cramped on th...

Re: Recommendations for Cintiq alternatives ?
I had a XP-Pen (Artist 15.6 Pro) and I was in the same boat as you, I thought I'd at least try a cheaper alternative since the fans in my Cintiq got on my last nerve, so I sold it and got the XP-Pen, but unfortunately the pen is just not as accurate, it was a bummer because I had really high hopes a...

Re: I really wish animation would be treated the same as live action in the US
That animation is OK for what it is but it's a bad example for what you're discussing I think, because I'm left wondering what " latest technology " means, we've been able to draw on computer screens for two decades, a better example would be the Klaus lighting tool-chain (I forget what th...

Just a heads up but it looks like CELSYS have been issued a patent for this last month, was pointed out on GitHub yesterday but here's the link.

Re: Possible to Add A.I. StyleGAN(Generative Adversarial Network) to TVPaint?
[...] It feels like doing traditionally feels finally dead. [...] TVPaint could be left in the dust if it's not researching or experimenting it. I think Disney could be adding it to Meander, and I think there's no way TVPaint can compete against big corporation like Disney in R&D. What problem ...

Re: Improve Japanese Workflow Autopaint Light and Shadow Areas
Ah, forgive me for assuming about Attack on Titan! I see what you mean about Line Colorize Enhanced. It seems the post has been edited on GitHub and there is a new example posted, the premise now looks a lot simpler, probably worth re-reading. I will post the examples from the GitHub page below in-c...

Improve Japanese Workflow Autopaint Light and Shadow Areas
I was happy when TVPaint released the include borders function and the accompanying effects to help with the PaintMan workflow. There is a discussion at OpenToonz GitHub about automating the painting of the light and shadow fills , not just the lines themselves but the fills , when a default tone is...

Re: Cacani 2d software with automatic inbetweening done right
But by generally established standards it is considered unethical to discuss the workings of other software on the forum of the current software. I understand that references are fair information, but to carry over another software's merits and demerits on this forum just because they have no forum...

Re: Cacani 2d software with automatic inbetweening done right
I still prefer to hand-draw my characters, but for things like fire, smoke, explosions, glimmer effects, plants and props it's sooo good not having to tween that stuff anymore. But why even those elements? Time and money. But with things like that there's almost no way you can tell the difference. ...

Re: Farewell !
This news hasn't gone down well at my office, Elodie and Fabrice were a big part of the reason we adopted TVPaint. Seemed like TVPaint, Wit Studio, Tatsunoko Pro, Signal MD, Studio Colorido, etc. were successfully managing a digital revolution and education programme in Japan, undoubtedly Elodie and...

Re: Cacani 2d software with automatic inbetweening done right
I am not saying that. I am trying to make a point that it makes little sense to animate 2D films in a hand drawn app so that they look as close to 3D animation as current technology will permit. The problem with those YouTube examples is they're done by amateurs, usually titled "test", et...
