Re: Some questions about TVPaint

Hey Nobody - give it time and you'll find that by daring to be different, the TVP team have created something wonderful! Since I've been using it, I often find myself wishing other programs (Photoshop, for example) worked more like TVP!

Re: Next Key Previous Key

Hi D

Fear not - one generally finds whatever you want to do, TVP can do it! I think what you're after is previous and next instance. This will flip between your drawings - missing out any frames in between.

Re: shortcut to erase image 50%

Works a treat for me with the Paint Bucket tool set at 50%. You have to make sure the Painting Mode is set to Erase (or just right click with the paint bucket tool).

Edit: Oh - you deleted your post! Now my post makes no sense! :D

Re: NY Times article on Paul Fierlinger

Haha - compliments come in all shapes and sizes! Although I'm not sure the Dr Katz comparison is fair - much as I loved that show, it doesn't have much in the way of animation. :)

Re: Intuos4

I wasn't that crazy about the intuos 3: you slide to easily on the surface and it feels really "plastic". Simple and cost free solution, for any other Intuos3 users - take a Cornflakes packet (or any other reasonably large thin cardboard packaging) and cut out a rectangle to match the siz...

Re: Pre or Post Behavior for Layer

But I think discussing removal of features to be very interesting. Indeed - and it highlights the treacherous nature of software development! You consider one small, apparently benign alteration and suddenly there are a multitude of unforeseen knock on effects! Also, because of this discussion, I'v...

Re: Pre or Post Behavior for Layer

Did you know if you turn on Repeat, for Pre and Post Behavior, the Light Table images wrap around.
So it does! That's great - saves me temporarily pasting the first image on the end! Thanks for the tip. :D

Re: Pre or Post Behavior for Layer

Yes, the faux fix is excellent - a typically elegant TVP feature - and I can see how it makes the 'loop' feature redundant. As long as the ability to hold a frame for the duration of an animation (without having to drag out it's instance) remains, I'll be happy.

Re: Pre or Post Behavior for Layer

I find the pre and post behaviour - particularly the 'Hold' function - extremely useful, especially for backgrounds and guide layers.

Re: "Cheap Animation Style" - (animations I made)

Love your channel - love your characters and ideas, it's all really funny and well put together. I agree that it would be nice to see the animation developed in a more freehand style (still 'cheap' but less Flash like) - but even as it is, I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks.

Yes - I think the the article is nonsense... but if 'scientific experts' say it is so - it must be so!

Re: Constant Cintiq Wacom trouble

I used to get issues with my Wacom drivers dropping occasionally, for no apparent reason.

I tried setting the Wacom drivers to 'Delayed Start' in 'Processes' - I don't know if that is what fixed the issue but I haven't had the problem since. I'm using am Intuos3 with the latest drivers on Win7 x64.

Re: change the timeline startframe number

If you start TVP from the Startup Panel (Edit > Preferences > Startup) - there is the option to enter what frame you want the animation to start at. Not sure if this is what you mean. The default is zero, but I prefer my animations to start at one.

Re: transform tool

It wouldn't be because the layer is locked? That would certainly prevent any transforms. I understood the green/red rectangles worked differently than described here though.. The content is contained in a green rectangle when the Transform tool is selected - the rectangle turns red when the content ...
