Drawing line thickness glitch

Post by GerhardHuman »

Hi, I just installed the new dongle-less version on Monterey (Thanks so much for the quick help with that Matthieu!)
Everything seems to be working well except when I'm drawing I now get these dots at the start of my pen stroke every now and then...
It's like the pen sensitivity sometimes kicks in too late then it makes this round dot at the start of the line.
(screengrabs attached)

I don't think it's a Wacom thing because it never did it before, only after I installed my new TV Paint today.
It's only happening in TV Paint, not in Photoshop.

I'm working on a new Macbook Pro 14 M1 Pro
Wacom Cintiq pro 24
TV Paint v11.5.3 64bit

Could you open the pressure profile editor with that brush, play around a bit and see if that changes something?

Yes, it would help to for us to look at the brush.
can you share a tvpx with the brush in it? or pinpoint which one, if its a brush delivered with tvp.

Hi Gerhard :)

Sharing the brush would indeed help! Could you also please give us your Wacom drivers version?

Hi guys, thanks so much for the response. I have played around with it. Didn't really help.
Here's a screengrab of the brush. As well as a test page where I tried to replicate the problem more. It definitely gets worse if I do light lines with very little pressure...

Hey @slowtiger I don't know if it changed something but I opened up the Wacom pressure profile to check it out after you mentioned it... played around with it a bit and now the problem seems to be gone! Even though I pretty much moved it back to where it was :P
Hopefully that did the trick... maybe the Wacom driver just freaked out or something but I will keep checking it.

Thanks so much for the speedy help. You guys rock!

Interesting to read this ... we are aware of this weird "overpressure" thing when the pen touches the tablet for the first time, it's just a matter of time (and hardware) to undestand what happens. Good to know that a driver setting could be in cause.

I guess by just moving it the Wacom driver overwrote whatever (faulty) setting was there before. This can happen when programmers forget to initialize properly.
