Woodcut-Brushes

Post by Animark »

Hello TVPaint Community - time to give back a little bit of those great inspirations I found on this wonderful forum :-).
I made some brushes to simulate traditionell woodcut style - not the master style of Hokusai e.g., but a little bit trashy one.

The brushes are defined as erasers and its good to start with a color filled layer where you can remove everything you don't need (like trad. wood carving). But its also possible and useful to use the tools in an opposite way. The wood textures are defined as normal color stamps but can also be used as erasers, for example on the color plates (example 3).

Here are some examples:
WoodCut-Example-all.jpg
[1] no wood textures used
[2] the color plates don't fit to each other
[3] there was not enough paint on the plates, the wood texture became visible
top right: original picture size
bottom right: every color plate got it's own layer to give them individual wood textures using the texture brushes as an eraser

Every feedback is greatly appreciated. :-)

Good work Markus.
This one of the best toolset I have come across here.
I like the idea behind this set, I like the execution (and see the potential for more) and I like the presentation (i.e the panel icons).
Thnk you!

Thank you! I'm doing a lino-cut style animation and this will save me a lot of time trying to create custom brushes.
