New "2D" Animation discussion forum

Post by D.T. Nethery »

Posted this today on my blog and thought I'd post it here , for anyone who is interested ---

2D or Not 2D Forum - A place to discuss all issues relating to traditional 2D animation in a digital world.

Ok, ok ... it's not exactly "new" , having been in existence for about 9 months , but it's had an on-again, off-again pattern of posting , sometimes going dormant for weeks at a time , so I'm trying to remind folks that it's there.

If you haven't signed up for the
2D or Not 2D Forum then please come on over and have a look. Sign in and join the conversation. Sure, there are lots of animation discussion forums out there , but only one that I know of which is devoted totally to "2D" (aka "hand-drawn", "traditional") animation . The forum is sponsored by Tony White's Animaticus Foundation , "a non-profit organization dedicated to the preserving , teaching, and development of the artform of 2D animation in a digital world."

David, the link to your blog has an error, an extra s in the URL, so for the curious people around here, here is the url : http://inklingstudio.typepad.com/chronicles/

Regarding the forum you're talking about, it's a remarkable place where real animators can have very interesting discussions, thanks for sharing it, I guess some people here will be interested to take a look at it.

Thanks for catching my error and providing the correct link.

I will go back to my first post to fix the link so there is no confusion if anyone clicks on it .

The forum admin. is Tony White . He more or less lets it run on auto-pilot because I rarely see Tony online or posting on the forum . I keep trying to get more people to join so that the forum becomes more active . I think it's a unique opportunity to have a forum devoted exclusively to 2D animation and I hope more people will join (which is why I posted the notice about it here and other places) .

The reason why I thought of contacting him is because I've got hosting with unlimited bandwidth and stuff - I could get a forum up for free that doesn't include banners/advertising below every friggin' post. :P
