Post by ten_zero »

A Made by French student's film, 2008.
I watched it at NicoNico Movie Japan :D . It is a sad, however a good story.

It is regrettable for me because I am not able to understand French lyrics that heroine sings :( .

Wah, that video is really impressive.

Here are the lyrics in French :

Regarde ces murs,
Que vois-tu au-delà ?
Les rouages de l'Etat.
Oui c'est Nous
Qui faisons vivre ces bourgeois.
Le Soleil ne brille pas de notre côté,
Il a bien trop à faire dans les riches quartiers.

Translation :

Look a the walls
What do you see beyond ?
The cogwheels of the State.
Yes we are the ones
Who making live those bourgeois.
The Sun doesn't shine from our side,
He has too many things to do for the rich districts.

Wow. That is truly amazing work. I can't imagine how great it would be if there were more shows like this.

Thank you so much, Elodie !
I understood the meaning of lyrics based on your translation.
I worried who about the last lyric ''He'', but my ''memory'' whispered ''Remember, He is The Sun, it has Le !''
(A long long more long time ago, I learnt French language's noun have gender, le/la and les  . )

I've written "He", because in the song, the Sun is like a person (that's why I've written "the Sun", not "the sun"). That's why I've taken the liberty to use the word "He", instead of "It".

Moreover, the Sun is frequently compared to God... and because Religious leaders are men, God is surely a male...

If God = Sun and God = He ==> Sun = He

... And you're right, "Sun" is a male name in French.
