Cintiq defect?

Post by slowtiger »

As if things weren't complicated enough right now (don't ask), my Cintiq 21 UX behaves funny all of a sudden. There are stripes moving up or down the display, an I fear a total collapse soon.

Anybody experienced this? Have you been able to repair it?

Yes, first thing, and they're OK. Moving them doesn't make a difference.

The effect seems to come and go, I'll just have to wait until it gets more serious, I think.

Maybe should you ask to Mark Chong (aka Lemec) I heard from him he had troubles in the past with his Cintiq 21".

Try plugging a different monitor into the port that your Cintiq is using. If you are still seeing the stripes, then the problem is your video card. If the stripes don't appear on the spare monitor, then plug the cintiq into a different computer. If you're still getting stripes on the cintiq, then the problem is with the cintiq itself.

My cintiq 18SX died a while ago. Specifically, the video was garbled beyond recognition, though it still functioned as a regular tablet.

Update: it seems that was a one-time glitch, the Cintiq worked fine in the meantime. Still I fear it might cease to work one day, because I've read the new Cintiq hasn't a surface as sturdy as the old one and is more prone to scratches...
