Windows 10 Interface Scaling

Post by pixelchomp »

Hey guys,

Had a quick question about the scaling of the UI on 4k screens. Is there a plan to have TVPaint work with the UI scaling functions in Windows 10? On the Cintiq Pro 24 (4k resolution), I'm finding TVPaint's scaling factor of 1 to be too small, while the factor of 2 is too large. I currently run the screen in the Windows OS at 150% scaling. Additional system specs below. Thanks!

Windows 10 64 bit
Intel i7-8700 32GB ram
TVPaint 11.0.8, Pro 64 bit
Wacom Cintiq Pro 24
Wacom Driver: 6.3.29-5

I agree with this, I wish there were a 1.5 scaling ratio.

I strongly agree! This is especially a problem when using TVPaint on a Surface, which has limited screen space. The text is either too large or too small. We need a Goldilocks setting!

Thanks,

@chomp Right click TVPaint's icon and go properties / compatibility override high dpi scaling set by system. There are a few options there.
This way, only TVPaint does the scaling internally. Not Windows AND TVPaint together.

See if that helps!

Thanks for the reply CartoonMonkey! Unfortunately messing with those settings seems to lead to a large offset between the pen and the cursor. Almost as if the interface and the drawing area are mapped to two different resolutions.

Agree maybe 1.3 or so would work fine with me, certainly, 2.0 is very large and 1.0 is tiny.

yes i tried it yesterday for a student who couldn't use tvpaint in 1 on her cintiq because she could not click the layer handles.

indeed 2 is to big and 3... well i almost could not get back out of that, because it was too ridiculously large, had to reset my config

a slider would be cool!

Sorry guys, it's hardcoded to be an integer value, no intermediate value possible.

However the icons are loaded from files in the icons folder. Maybe someone has a george script to shrink the x2 icons ?
